Ashes can be placed inside the cremation urn and then transported to a lake or ocean location. When placed on the water, the Journey Biodegradable Urn will float briefly, sink gracefully to the bottom, and break down naturally over time. Some families throw fresh or dried flower petals on top of the water along with the urn for added beauty and meaning. This water burial cremation urn is designed with earth-friendly principles in mind. It is constructed of natural, handmade paper -- embossed with a floral pattern -- in a soft blue hue. The materials used in the urn include recycled cardboard and organic paper derived from the bark of the mulberry tree. Using a sustainable system, the bark is harvested while allowing the tree to continue to grow and thrive. No trees are cut down to produce this urn. A water-soluble bag is included. Ashes are placed into the bag, then into the Journey Biodegradable Urn. The urn is accessed from the side and folds closed with a sturdy paper band wrapped around it to keep it in the closed position. This cremation urn is categorized as adult size with a capacity of 220 cubic inches (can hold the ashes of a person who weighed 220 lbs. or less prior to cremation).
